Pen Pals Project 2011

The project consists in a letters exchange among students from the 7th grade at Escola Comunitária de Campinas and students from Sunny Brae Middle School in the United States and from Sint-Donatus Middenschool in Belgium.

Main objectives

*Intensifying students interest in the English language

*Promoting a real and meaningful use of the language

*Developing writing and reading skills through letters exchange

*Developing oral skills through oral presentations and interviews about the cities involved in the project.

*Promoting a personalized contact between the students and different cultures/ people

*Opening opportunities for students to write in English about their personal lives and their schools, cities and countries.

*Spreading a real image of our country so as to clarify some misconceptions

*Allowing students to learn more about themselves and their cities/countries

*Promoting interdisciplinary learning experiences

*Covering the contents in a meaningful way, closer to our students reality.

Our students from Escola Comunitária de Campinas sent their first parcel of letters, photos and cultural gifts to the United States (7thA and 7thB) and to Belgium (7thC). Check out the photos!!

O projeto consiste de uma troca de correspondências entre os estudantes do 7º. ano da Escola Comunitária de Campinas e estudantes da escola Sunny Brae Middle School nos Estados Unidos e da Sint-Donatus Middenschool na Bélgica.

Objetivos:

*Intensificar o interesse pela lí­ngua inglesa

*Promover um uso real da língua inglesa

*Desenvolver a habilidade de leitura e produção escrita por meio da troca de cartas

*Desenvolver a habilidade de produção oral por meio de apresentações orais e entrevistas sobre as cidades envolvidas

*Propiciar um contato personalizado dos alunos com uma nova cultura e com novas pessoas

*Possibilitar oportunidades para que os alunos escrevam sobre sua vida pessoal, familiar e sobre sua escola, sua cidade e seu país

*Divulgar uma imagem de nosso país que desmistifique alguns estereótipos

*Permitir que os alunos se conheçam melhor e conheçam melhor sua cidade e seu país

*Promover um ensino interdisciplinar

*Abordar conteúdos do currículo de forma significativa e mais próxima da realidade de nossos alunos.

Nossos alunos da Comunitária enviaram a primeira remessa de cartas, fotos e presentes culturais para os Estados Unidos (7º. A e B) e para a Bélgica (7o. C). Confira as fotos!

LA IDEA DE NUESTRO PROYECTO SURGIÓ CON LA CREACIÓN DE UNA HUERTA ESCOLAR QUE UTILIZASE ABONO ORGÁNICO Y OTRA CON INORGÁNICO.

HÁBILMENTE NUESTRA COORDINADORA ADMINISTRATIVA ROSE NOS CEDIÓ DE FORMA ENTUSIÁSTICA Y GENTIL UN ESPACIO EN LA “PRAÇA DA PAZ “PARA LA REALIZACIÓN DE NUESTRO TRABAJO.

CONTAMOS CON LA GENEROSA PARTICIPACIÓN DEL PERSONAL DE MANTENIMIENTO DE LA ESCUELA PARA LA CONSTRUCCIÓN DEL CERCADO, LAS PARCELAS DE TIERRA PARA LOS SEMBRÍOS Y TODA LA INSTALACIÓN ADICIONAL.

TUVIMOS EL APOYO TAMBIÉN DE LA PAISAJISTA CRISTINA MOTTA QUIEN DISEÑÓ EL PROYECTO DE UN ESPANTAPÁJAROS QUE LOS ALUMNOS ELABORARON.

POR MOTIVOS DE HIGIENE Y POR TRATARSE DE UN RECINTO ESCOLAR Y NO RURAL DECIDIMOS POR EL PLANTÍO CON ABONO INORGÁNICO.

DE AHÍ PENSAMOS EN CÓMO DEJAR NUESTRA HUERTA MÁS SOSTENIBLE Y QUE UTILIZASE ALGUNA ENERGÍA LIMPIA.

ASÍ TUVIMOS LA IDEA DE APROVECHAR LA LUZ SOLAR Y TRANSFORMARLA EN ENERGÍA ELÉCTRICA PARA EL AUTO RIEGO DE AGUA EN LOS SEMBRÍOS, YA QUE NO TENDRÍAMOS TIEMPO NI PERSONAL PARA MOJAR LAS PLANTAS TODOS LOS DÍAS.

LA HUERTA TIENE 3 PARCELAS CON DIFERENTES CULTURAS. DE IZQUIERDA A DERECHA EN LA NÚMERO 1 HAY: PEREJIL, COUVE Y CEBOLLITA VERDE.

EN LA NÚMERO 2, RÚCULA Y TRES TIPOS DE LECHUGA.

Y EN LA 3, REMOLACHA Y ZANAHORIA. CADA PARCELA TIENE 1 METRO DE ANCHO POR 3 DE LARGO.

PARA EL RIEGO AUTOMÁTICO FUE COMPRADO UNA PLACA SOLAR DE 12V, UN REGULADOR DE CARGA DE 12V, UNA BATERÍA DE 12V, UN TIMER DE 12V Y UNA BOMBA DE AGUA SUMERGIBLE DE 12V.

EL RECIPIENTE DE AGUA DE 100 LITROS FUE ADAPTADO CON UNA BOLLA SEMEJANTE A LAS DE CAJAS DE AGUA.

COMO RESULTA EXCESIVAMENTE CARO E INVIABLE EL USO DE LA ENERGÍA SOLAR PARA LAS INSTALACIONES ELÉCTRICAS RESOLVIMOS COMPRAR UNA SOLA PLACA DE 12V QUE ALIMENTASE UNA BATERÍA DE 12V TAMBIÉN.

DE AHÍ TODOS LOS EQUIPOS TUVIERON QUE SER DE 12V Y CON UN AMPERAJE INFERIOR A 7,5 QUE ES LO QUE LA BATERÍA SOPORTA COMO MÁXIMO.

COMO EN BRASIL NO EXISTEN TODOS ESTOS EQUIPOS CON 12V TUVIMOS QUE IMPORTARLOS. LA PLACA VINO DE SINGAPURA, EL TIMER DE LONDRES, EL REGULADOR DE ESTADOS UNIDOS Y SOLAMENTE LA BATERÍA Y LA BOMBA DE AGUA VINIERON DE PORTO ALEGRE RS. BRASIL.

EL COSTE TOTAL DE LOS EQUIPOS LLEGA A APROXIMADAMENTE R$500,00

Realizamos uma atividade bem interessante com as turmas de 5°s anos!
Na Unidade 4 do livro “Kids United” aprendemos vocabulário e estruturas sobre compras! Cantamos juntos uma música sobre como podemos economizar dinheiro e conhecemos a moeda americana: dollar.



Aproveitamos o tema para pesquisarmos moedas de diferentes partes do mundo. Felizmente, alguns alunos pouderam contribuir com a nossa pesquisa, e trouxeram algumas moedas...consegue indentifica-las?

Projeto do Livro "William Tell and other stories"

Our 7th grade students have worked on a project about a book called "William Tell and other stories". Each student has researched, prepared a Power Point presentation and presented in English to the class about one topic related to the stories. The stories are about: William Tell, Tom Blood, Lord Bao, King Mathias, Johnny Appleseed and Lady Godiva.

Nossos alunos de 7o. ano trabalharam em um projeto baseado no livro "William Tell and other stories". Cada aluno pesquisou, preparou uma apresentaçaõ em Power Point e apresentou para a classe, em inglês, um assunto relacionado às histórias. Olá! Temos mais notícias sobre o intercâmbio de correspondências!
Os alunos da Inglaterra ficaram muito felizes ao receber o pacote cheio de cartas e presentes enviado pelos alunos do 7o. A e do 7o. B.
Aqui você pode ler parte de um email enviado pela professora da Inglaterra em que ela conta a reação dos alunos da Inglaterra:
Eles ficaram tão empolgados ao receberem tanto as cartas quanto os presentes que isso certamente marcou a vida deles. Hoje foi um dia para ser recordado. Escrever para os seus alunos é uma extensão da educação dos meus alunos em escala global e espero que os ajude a entender outros países e outras culturas por meio de contatos tais como esse com o Brasil.

E o 7o. C acaba de receber um pacote cheio de cartas e presentes dos alunos da Eslovênia.

English students got very happy when they received a parcel full of letters and gifts from our 7th A and 7th B students.
Here you can read part of an email the teacher from England sent us talking about English students' reaction:
They were so excited to receive both letters and gifts that it has surly left a mark on them for life. Today was a day to remember. Writing to your pupils is an extension of my pupils' education on a global scale and will hopefully help them to understand other countries and cultures through contacts such as with yourselves in Brazil.

And our 7th C group has just received a parcel full of letters and gifts from Slovenian students.
